I’ve been saying for a long time that owning your own home isn’t as great as common wisdom says it is. Finally, with the housing market collapsing like its made of sticks, more people are coming to the same realization.

The reason I don’t want to own is almost entirely non-finance related, however.

• I don’t have to mow the lawn
• I don’t have to pay property taxes
• I don’t have to worry about repairs
• I won’t be tempted to accumulate a lot of “stuff”
• If I don’t like it, I can just move (I’ve done it 5 years in a row)

And last but certainly not least:

• I can change cities or even countries whenever I want
